Control and Optimization of Building Energy Systems
- Stability analysis of constrained optimization dynamics via passivity techniques: application to social welfare problem for building energy systems.
- Sensitivity analysis (first order) of transient stability critical clearing time with respect to any power system parameter.
- A comparative evaluation of different zone modeling techniques (physics-based, data-driven and hybrid) is performed to analyze the merits/demerits of each model using real data from Iowa Energy Center testbed.
- Developed a different viewpoint to modeling of building subsystems using Brayton-Moser form. Using tools from circuit theory such as passivity, a feedback control strategy is designed by modifying the power ow of individual subsystems to attain the stabilization tasks.
- A Distributed optimization formulation using Generalized Gossip-based subgradient is used to optimize the supply air setpoint for the air-side HVAC system.
- Implemented the optimization framework in a distributed control platform VOLTTRON developed by PNNL.
Damage Detection and Localization in Wind Turbine blades
A data-driven scheme relying on Diffusion map based approach is proposed for damage diagnosis and localization in wind turbine blades.
